Description of work
County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland County is looking for a fish biologist based in Vanersborg. The tasks include general fish conservation and fisheries enforcement.

At CAB's water unit, we work with most issues related to water such as water, fishing, water activities, liming, environmental monitoring and environmental goals. Within the unit is also water authority for the North Sea district, which is one of five water authorities in Sweden.

One of the main tasks will be to organize and develop the CAB's fish monitoring in Lake Vänern and the coastal area but you will also work with public fish management on issues and projects.

The work refers to office work and fish monitoring in the field and involves a lot of contacts with government agencies and private individuals. You will be part of a group of water-management device that works with the fishing and fish conservation-related matters.

Qualifications

• University education with a focus on fisheries and fisheries biology or equivalent
• Completed training for fish inspectors
• Work experience in the field of fish biology
• Knowledge of fisheries legislation
• Good computer skills
• Ship class VIII
• Licences BE (heavy trailer)

• Knowledge and experience of restoration measures in water
• Knowledge of the EC Water Framework Directive
• Knowledge of the Environment Code
• Good boatmanship
• Pedagogical knowledge to inform and spread knowledge about water and fish-related issues
