Head of Sustainability

We are now looking for a Head of Sustainability.
Sustainability is high on our agenda, and you will have a key function in realizing our strategic ambitions. Beijer Ref is committed to drive a leading and sustainable business and see this as a key element of its future successes. You will be part of our head office in Malmö, Sweden working closely with both central and local functions and stakeholders all around the world, leading the global development and implementation of our goals for a sustainable and successful business.
As Head of Sustainability, you lead the development and follow up our sustainability strategy as well as support the organization with implementation. You report to our General Counsel & EVP, who is responsible for Legal, HR, and Sustainability and is a member of the Executive Management Team.
You will work closely with leading functions in the head office as well as business Operations Directors and other stakeholders located in our different subsidiaries all around the world. You will enhance a culture of empowerment, where employees strive to take ownership of sustainability topics and tasks to successfully accomplish our collective goals.
Some of your tasks and responsibilities:
You will be a key person for the annual sustainability cycle (strategy work, implementation, follow-up, and reporting).
Provide support and expertise to the businesses within the Group sustainability agenda.
Develop and follow-up relevant Policies and Guidelines for the Group.
Overall responsibility for sustainability reporting, which means that you establish, implement, and manage the reporting process for sustainability data and KPI´s.
Advise with the aim of ensuring the Group's compliance with legislation in Sustainability, such as the EU Taxonomy and lead or participate in projects to ensure compliance.
Identify initiatives, improvement opportunities and support the business with sustainability initiatives.
Responsibility for sustainability communication and internal education (in close collaboration with HR and Communication) including stakeholder dialogues and surveys.
Who are you?
First of all, you have a genuine interest in sustainability with a special focus on environmental matters. As a person, you can take the business from where we are to where we want to be, mapping the clear routes and strategies essential to achieving our sustainability goals. We believe that you have strategic height, are commercial in your way of thinking, and have a "doer attitude". You have a vision and a purpose, and you can inspire and influence others to share and achieve the same.
You enjoy building long-term relationships and use your excellent communication skills to engage and influence. In this role, it is important to be pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and a team player - WE before ME mentality. You also have a strong integrity and a positive mindset combined with a friendly attitude and a sense of humour.
Since you will be the expert within Sustainability and run the Group’s agenda it is important that you are very knowledgeable within the field. You have extensive knowledge and experience in creating and managing sustainability strategies; ideally covering both environmental and social aspects. We believe that you have worked in a similar role for at least 7 years, maybe even 10 years or more. It is great merit if you have worked in a global matrix organization with ISO implementations or similar governance systems.
You have a university degree in Sustainability, Engineering or Business
We expect that you are very familiar with reporting in line with GRI standards and experience from TCFD and SASB is meriting. Also, if you have worked with preparing a business to be aligned with the EU Taxonomy, that will be a plus.
You speak and write in English fluently. In the office, we usually speak Swedish, so if you speak a Nordic language it is an advantage.
