Are you passionate about science and facilitating the development of offshore wind within a rich natural environment you might be the Environmental expert we are looking for for our Bioscience team in the Environment & Sustainability Unit of Business Area Wind.
Your main tasks and responsibilities as Bioscience Environmental expert:
Advising Vattenfall offshore wind projects and sites on assessment, mitigation and monitoring of key environmental issues during feasibility, consenting/tendering, offshore auctions, construction, operation and decommissioning phases;
Monitoring the developing knowledge base on environmental impacts and opportunities for offshore wind, and feeding that into project support and the organisation more widely;
Providing support to the Vattenfall Wind environmental R&D programme (BIOWINS) aimed at improving the evidence base on impacts and mitigation, including meaures to enhance and restore marine ecosystems;
Leading on development and delivery of individual R&D projects, and engaging in strategic efforts building and applying the knowledge base on environmental impacts and mitigation with the wider industry, authorities, universities and ngo’s;
Contributing to the Bioscience team input and responsibilities in terms of the Vattenfall Wind environmental and wider sustainability strategy.
Your qualifications and personal skills as a Bioscience Environmental expert:
A PhD in environmental sciences, or MSc with more years of research experience with publication record, preferably including applied research;
Beneficial with knowledge within marine biology, specifically marine mammals, fish or marine habitats, and preferably experience with ecological restoration;
Experience with environmental impact assessment, preferably for projects within the energy and/or other sectors, and marine would not hurt;
Understanding of EU legislation on nature conservation;
Experienced in project management, and working with different stakeholders;
Solution oriented mind-set and self-driven;
Good communication skills, both verbally and in written form;
Fluent in written and spoken English, additional French or Dutch language skills would be preferred.
