About the job

Become part of our mission and help us to achieve our goal of being fossil free within one generation. We offer an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Senior Consent Manager offshore wind to take a leading role in paving the way for Vattenfall and its partners towards a fossil free future!

Vattenfall is one of Europe`s offshore wind developers operating in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map aiming at achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Vattenfall is now ramping up its growth within renewables, with a particular focus on offshore wind.

What will you do?
As Senior Consent Manager you will be focused on the emerging offshore wind markets in the Nordic region (Norway, Sweden and Finland) where your expertise will be invaluable in helping shape projects and Vattenfall’s approach in these countries. This is a challenging role where experience gained elsewhere offshore wind will need to be translated to nascent markets and immature permitting regimes to ensure that our projects meet local requirements but also help set best practice.

As Senior Consent Manager you will principally support development projects in Finland and Norway, as well as new bid and acquisition opportunities across the region. You will be a key member of a motivated and fast-moving consent team and will work closely with external specialists to support Vattenfall in preparing winning bids and delivering development projects.

As Senior Consent Manager, Nordics, you will work with project teams on one or more projects across Norway, Sweden and Finland.

This will involve opportunities to:

  • Act as the main interface between joint venture partners and the wider Vattenfall consenting and environment teams, ensuring that lessons learnt from our European portfolio are transferred to these emerging offshore wind markets;

  • Work with joint venture partners to deliver permits both for marine and land-based parts of projects in development;

  • Lead on permitting input to bid and acquisition projects across the Nordic region, including managing consultants to deliver environmental reporting, and working with legal advisors to give robust advice on potential risks and impacts;

  • Support or lead work on environmental assessment with the support of EIA consultants and internal experts;

  • Work closely with Vattenfall’s technical teams to ensure projects in development meet both permitting and engineering requirements;

  • Provide strategic advice on future offshore wind opportunities both in Finland, Sweden and Norway assessing permit review risks in and during new acquisitions;

  • Where required, provide other relevant support to existing offshore wind projects in the Nordics;

  • Contribute to the wider consenting team including input into industry policy groups and consultations, inputs into the consent strategy, provide expert advice and learning to other projects within Vattenfall’s European offshore wind portfolio;

  • You will be required to promote a safety conscious environment.

The role will ideally be based at Vattenfall’s headquarters in London, Kolding or Solna, however flexibility on location will be considered. Travel to the site may also be required alongside occasional international travel.
